While both are evidence-based, they differ in focus. Dietitians primarily work within the medical model to treat clinical diseases and manage hospital-based nutrition.
Clinical Holistic Nutritionists take a broader, integrative approach. We look beyond symptoms to address the "whole person," focusing on prevention, gut health, and environmental factors. By combining nutritional science with lifestyle considerations, we aim to uncover the root cause of health imbalances rather than just managing a diagnosis.
-
Clinical nutrition supports hormonal health by addressing the root causes of imbalances, such as blood sugar instability, liver detoxification, and gut health. During perimenopause, fluctuating hormones can trigger symptoms like fatigue, mood swings, and sleep disruptions.
Instead of a "one-size-fits-all" diet, we use targeted nutrients and therapeutic foods to stabilise energy levels and support the endocrine system. By optimising your unique biochemistry and lifestyle, clinical nutrition provides a sustainable framework to manage symptoms, improve resilience, and help you feel like yourself again during this transition.

Absolutely! Clinical nutrition optimises athletic performance by viewing food as functional fuel rather than just calories. By analysing your specific training demands, we can fine-tune macronutrient timing to sustain energy levels and prevent "hitting the wall."
Beyond performance, we focus heavily on cellular recovery. This involves using anti-inflammatory nutrients and targeted hydration strategies to reduce muscle soreness and repair tissue damage. Whether you are a gym enthusiast, a yogi, or a former athlete, clinical nutrition helps bridge the gap between your training effort and your body’s ability to adapt, recover, and excel.

A cyclical approach recognises that our bodies aren't meant to function at 100% in the same way every single day. By aligning nutrition and movement with natural rhythms—such as the seasons or our internal hormonal cycles—we reduce the stress of "forcing" a rigid routine.
The benefits include improved energy conservation, better hormonal harmony, and reduced burnout. Instead of fighting against your body’s natural fluctuations, a nature-based approach teaches you to work with them, using specific nutrients to support the body’s shifting needs throughout the month and the year.

Your initial consultation is a comprehensive 90-minute deep dive into your health history and current goals. We start by discussing your symptoms, lifestyle, and dietary habits, looking beyond the surface to identify the root causes of any imbalances.
If we meet in person at the Coolum Beach clinic, we may also perform physical assessments, such as blood pressure checks and BIA body composition analysis. By the end of our session, you will walk away with a personalized, evidence-based wellness plan, including dietary recommendations, lifestyle shifts, and, if necessary, a targeted supplement or functional testing strategy.

Every health journey is unique, but we generally follow a three-stage clinical framework:
Initial Consultation (90 mins): A deep dive into your history and goals. If required, I will recommend specific pathology or functional testing (e.g., blood work or gut mapping) to uncover underlying imbalances.
Results Review: Once your results are in, we meet for a dedicated session to interpret the findings and explain exactly what they mean for your health.
Follow-up & Implementation: Roughly two weeks later, we have a follow-up consultation to fine-tune your plan, track your progress, and ensure your protocol is sustainable.
Because complex cases require more support than a simple "tune-up," your path is always personalised. We move at the pace your body needs to achieve lasting results

Yes, I offer both in-person and telehealth consultations to suit your lifestyle. You are welcome to "mix and match" your appointments—booking in-person when you have the time and telehealth when you need convenience.
While telehealth allows us to connect from anywhere, in-person sessions at the clinic offer the added benefit of clinical physical assessments. These include Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA) to track body composition and blood pressure monitoring, providing us with deeper data to track your progress and refine your health plan over time.

Many Australian private health funds offer rebates for Clinical Nutrition consultations under their "Extras" cover. I am a registered provider with a wide range of funds, including:
Major Funds: Medibank, NIB (including AAMI, APIA, ING & Suncorp), AHM, and Australian Unity.
Regional & Boutique Funds: HBF (and see-u), GU Health, St Lukes Health, Latrobe, Westfund, Peoplecare, Mildura, and Health Partners.
Because every policy is different, I recommend contacting your provider directly to confirm if your specific plan includes "Nutrition" or "Dietetics and Nutrition (often listed under Natural Therapies or Extras)." You can simply ask if you are covered for a Clinical Nutritionist (often item 102/202). While Nutritionists are not currently covered by Medicare, these private health rebates can significantly reduce your out-of-pocket costs for both in-person and telehealth sessions. I provide a full receipt with my provider numbers after each session to make your claiming process simple.

Yes! My clinical practice is located in Coolum Beach on the beautiful Sunshine Coast. I love working with local clients in person, especially for those who want to utilize diagnostic tools like BIA (body composition) testing and physical assessments.
If you are further north in Noosa, south in Maroochydore, or anywhere in the hinterland, you can visit the clinic in person or choose a telehealth session from the comfort of your home. Whether we meet in the clinic or online, you’ll receive the same high level of clinical support and a personalized wellness plan tailored to your lifestyle.
